The Bowline is one of the most useful knots a sailor learns. The bowline is used to place a temporary loop in the end of a line. There are many types of bowlines: "Spanish Bowline," "French Bowline," "Bowline on a Bight," etc....

                           The bowline can be tied right or left handed.
