Subject: CNRFC: Listserv FAQ - Unsubscribing/Passwords/Archives

We have received questions about the Listserv.  Below are four frequently asked questions about unsubscribing, passwords, and archives:

    1.  How do I unsubscribe from a list?

Answer:  Each message sent out has unsubscribe instructions located at the bottom of the page, in accordance with the Federal CAN-SPAM Act. Simply follow the easy directions to unsubscribe from a list.
    2.  I would like to sign up for the Navy Reserve Listserv and subscribe to lists.  How do I get a password?
Answer:  You can do so by going to https://listserv.navyreserve.navy.mil and looking for the link that reads:  "...get a new LISTSERV password..." Click the link, then fill out the form asking for your e-mail address and password selection. After you submit your e-mail address and password, you will receive a confirmation e-mail.  Simply click the link in the confirmation.

Once you do that, log into Listserv to subscribe to lists.  You will be taken to a page with several list names and short descriptions.  Click the list that interests you, then click link that reads, "Join or Leave (List Name)."  This will direct you to a page where you can input your name.  Click Join button at bottom of page.  You are now subscribed.

If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail, please contact the Navy Reserve Customer Service at navyreservecsc@navy.mil.
    3.  I want to access the archives at https://listserv.navyreserve.navy.mil.  What do I need to do to access
    those files?

Click the link, then fill out the form asking for your e-mail address and your password selection.  After you submit your e-mail address and password, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. Simply click the link in the confirmation.  Once you do that, you can access archives to lists for which you are subscribed.
If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail, please contact the Navy Reserve Customer Service at navyreservecsc@navy.mil.
    4.  I am trying to access the archives, but I'm getting a message that says I either don't have authorization to view the archives or that I'm not a member of the list.
Answer:   First, be sure you are subscribed to the list.  Only list subscribers have access to the list's archives.  You can check the list(s) to which you are subscribed by clicking the link LISTSERV.NAVYRESERVE.NAVY.MIL, located on the lower left corner of each page.

If you have a password and are subscribed for a list, but you get the following message: "You don't have authorization to view the archives or you am not a member of the list," it means no posts have been made to the archive for review.
